A message from your new IDHS(GB) Chairman, James Noblett

Dear Members,

I’d like to update you all on the recent council meeting that was held on Sunday 3rd April where I was voted in as your new Chairman with Heather Chaplin voted in as your new Vice-Chairman. We both consider this to be a great privilege and thank our fellow trustees for putting their faith in us as custodians of this wonderful breed for future generations.

On a personal note, I would like to say a huge thank you on behalf of the council and all our membership to the outgoing Chairman Sue Benson for her amazing service to the society as chair for the last 7 years.

I would also like to thank Vice-Chairman Louise Morton for her dedication to the society and to Caroline Murphy who also retires from council. I am very pleased to welcome several new faces to the council this year as a result of the recent elections- Helena Davies, Heather Glendenning, Justin Scale and Lucinda Starling. I hope they will bring with them many new skills and ideas to help the society move forward.

When I think about the word ‘society’ that means for me a group of like-minded people coming together with a shared interest. We all, as members, are here I think for the same thing- love of the Irish Draught horse. It is a hobby, a passion, a business and for all of us it should be fun!

I want to encourage all members to get involved and to enjoy being a part of this society. We have many positives at the moment- membership is growing, our inspections are experiencing unprecedented interest, competitions are well supported and we have the exciting prospect of holding our annual Breed Show this year at Onley Grounds Equestrian Centre.

I am very excited about the future and hope to catch up with many of you out and about this year.

Thank you,

James
