The IDHS (GB) will award Bronze, Silver and Gold merits to pure bred Irish Draught horses graded as RID / Class 1 on inspection.
- Class 1 and RID stallions and mares are eligible for merit awards based on their own performance or that of their progeny.
- Class 2 stallions and mares are eligible for merit awards based on the performance of their progeny only.
- Geldings must have been through the inspection process and classified as Class 1. Geldings who have been assigned their dam’s grade without inspection are not eligible for merits.

This is in line with the recommendations of the Task Force for the Irish Draught Breeding Policy Review (2014)
Our Merit Award Scheme awards pure bred Irish Draughts merits for their performance and that of their progeny.
They can be earned in the following disciplines – Dressage, Showing, Show Jumping and Eventing and as well as on Inspection.
