Do you have an Irish Draught or ID Sport Horse mare for inspection this year?
The closing date for Summer Inspection applications, with fees, is 15 June 2026.
The inspections for grading and Hornby Premiums will be held around the country. The choice of venues is determined by the number and location of mares, based onconfirmed applications (i.e. including payment) received by 15 June.
Inspection dates:-
South and Wales: 1 to 4 September.
North of England: 8 and 9 September.
Scotland: date to be confirmed.
A minimum number of mares for grading are required in all areas to make venues viable

Amnesty mares: If your ID mare has one or more uninspected parents, please be aware that, as far as we know, this is the last year of the current Irish Inspection Amnesty.
How to apply for inspection:
- Please would mare owners email inspections@idhsgb.org.uk as soon as possible with their mare’s registered name and their full contact details, including postcode.
- We will acknowledge your email and send you the forms that you need.
- Owners should submit their application forms, with the fee, by 15 June 2026.
- Immediately after the closing date, the Team will meet to discuss the location of firm applicants.
- Venues are finalised, published and applicants informed.
- If a venue becomes unviable, e.g. because some mare owners withdraw after the venue has been booked, any other owners affected will be offered an alternative.
- Owners who cannot realistically change to an alternative venue can request a refund.
Hornby Premiums:
Class 1 and RID mares (including any achieving Class 1 during the inspection day) which have their own foal at foot by a Class 1 or RID GB stallion are eligible to be inspected for a possible Hornby Premium at:
- Any of the grading venues
- Wessex Horse Show
- North West Irish Draught and Hunter Show
- IDHS (GB) National Championship Show.
